Because it drives you to be your “brother’s keeper”, to treat others as you wish to be treated, to stand up against injustice, to seek the wellbeing of others, to seek the truth, to do what is right and good, to lift others up, to do what you can to defend the unprotected, to put the interests of others ahead of your own. This love requires courage and sacrifice. It is the cornerstone of healthy community. Social justice activism that lacks love, is a hazard to society.
