Life without moral values and ethics...

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

We are living with the consequences of life without life-giving values and ethics. The Dalai Lama calls this "the fundamental problem" at every level of our society, from our homes, neighbourhoods, workplaces, cities, the marketplace and the world.

In this #WednesdayWisdom message the Dalai Lama says we give "too much attention to the external, material aspects of life while neglecting moral #ethics and inner #values..."

Our inner lives are something we ignore at our own peril, and many of the greatest problems we face in today's world are the result of such neglect.

Secular ethics and the cultivation of our inner values are skills that can be learned. Such training is important the way we show up in the world, the impact we have on those around us are related directly to our inner well-being.

This is especially important for civic leaders. Compassionate cities are led by compassionate civic leaders. Be the change.
