Infrastructure chickens come home to roost

According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, the cumulative grade for U.S. #infrastructure is D+ due to chronic underinvestment and deferred maintenance. 44% of the nations roads are in poor or mediocre condition.

“The general agreement was that the first step in raising money for infrastructure should be to raise the federal tax on gasoline and diesel, giving way to a system that eventually would impose a tax on vehicle miles traveled...” 🤭

Here you see bipartisan efforts answering to President Trump’s call for infrastructure investment. The President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce proposes a 25 cent increase in the federal fuel tax and the President of the national body of unionized workers, the AFL-CIO, in agreement in shoring up the fund into which the current fuel tax goes.

The chickens have come home to roost.
